A Couple Spends Over $55,000 To Improve The Quality Of Life For Their 20 Dogs

When individuals want to give a puppy a shot at life, they usually want it to be a puppy and in excellent condition, which is why handicapped or elderly dogs are often the final option.

What these individuals don’t realize is that, while a dog with special needs may be more difficult to care for, it is just as cute and lovable as any other puppy.

Fortunately, Chris and Mariesa Hughes of Clifton Park, New York, have taken it upon themselves to save numerous puppies, and the pair has adopted 20 of them, all of whom are elderly and in bad condition.

According to Bored Panda , the couple run a non-profit organization called The Mr. Mo Project ; This organization came about after their veteran puppy named “Mo” passed away and they had to cover large vet expenses.

Chris and Mariesa were well aware that caring for an aging dog was not an inexpensive proposition, which is why so many were surrendered to shelters or abandoned to their destiny.

Given the above situation, the couple decided to do everything possible so that these dogs receive all the necessary attention.

Older dogs deserve the best for the rest of their lives. We think older dogs deserve homes too! ”

Currently, the organization has saved hundreds of dogs from being euthanized and has helped them receive treatment and find permanent homes, but 20 of those canines have been properly adopted by the couple, trying to provide the best quality of life, even remodeling their house , for which they have invested approximately US $ 55,000.

A bespoke king-size bed for $ 5,000, so they can sleep with their dogs, and a hydrotherapy pool for $ 30,000, so the dogs can exercise, are among the purchases.

On the other hand, the house is equipped with ramps, plastic sheets, rugs, among other accessories, to make the environment as comfortable as possible. In addition, the couple spends 45 minutes each morning feeding them and giving them the medications they need.

The pair is primarily concerned with the health of the animals, therefore in order to pay for their treatments, they try to gather as much money as possible, but if the cost is prohibitively high, they utilize their credit cards. The most important thing to them is that their dogs are healthy, and while debt might be difficult at times, supporting so many animals makes it all worthwhile.
