The puppy got up early on his first day of work to prepare for his swearing-in ceremony. He appeared to be weary, though, because he had been up all night worrying about his big first day. As a result, instead of participating in the ceremony as a member of the department, he fell asleep.

Brody felt at ease in the company of his new coworkers, so he slept off as they performed the swearing-in ceremony behind him. Brody’s handler, Officer Keith Medeiros, stated, “We placed him down on the desk and he was just so comfortable that he laid down and became asleep.”

Medeiros told The Dodo, “He plays extremely hard and he sleeps really hard.” “When he isn’t playing, he is napping, which is difficult since he sleeps so much.”

Brody will be participating in events with the town’s schools, according to police. Medeiros stated, “We’re really eager for Brody to meet the people in our town and for him to meet the children in the Bristol-Warren Regional School District.”

They also mentioned that having a comfort dog like Brody on hand will help them with community outreach and minimize tension and anxiety among witnesses and investigators.

“People, especially in law enforcement, are really stressed,” Medeiros added. “Just coming into the police station with Brody makes people smile and immediately puts them in a better mood. They want to pet him, embrace him, and it’s just a wonderful thing.”
